City of Burbank issued the following announcement on Dec 7.
WHAT: Metrolink Railroad Positive Train Control (PTC) Testing
WHERE: Along Metrolink's Ventura County Line, San Bernardino Line and Antelope Valley Line
WHEN: Saturday, December 12 until Wednesday, December 16 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

To keep train service safe and reliable, Metrolink crews will operate a single train within the agency's regular schedule to conduct PTC onboard software testing to confirm PTC is working properly throughout our system from Saturday, December 12 until Wednesday, December 16 each day between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
During this work, we anticipate the following impacts:
• The train blowing its horn at railroad crossings
There will be minimal impacts from the testing to the community. The train will run according to the Quiet Zone standards as required by federal law. Residents may hear the train operating during this time. The train will also blow its horn if a person or vehicle is on or near the tracks. Horns will be blown in non-Quiet Zone areas.
All testing will start at our Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) in Los Angeles with the train coming back to the CMF when testing is completed each day. Testing will take place as follows:
• Saturday, December 12 at 7 a.m. until Monday, December 14 at 3 p.m. - Ventura County Line between Van Nuys and the Burbank Airport
• Tuesday, December 15 at 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. - San Bernardino Line starting at the San Bernardino Transit Center and ending at Union Station
• Wednesday, December 16 at 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. - Antelope Valley Line starting at Lancaster and ending at Union Station
PTC is a GPS-based safety technology that can stop a train and prevent train-to-train collisions, over-speed derailments and unauthorized train movement. PTC provides advancements in braking technology and ensures the safety of our passengers by acting as a safeguard against human errors and other possible hazards.
