City of Long Beach issued the following announcement on Dec 3.

The City of Long Beach and The Nonprofit Partnership (TNP) are administering grants for licensed early child care providers to purchase supplies needed to meet State and Los Angeles County COVID-19 protocols. Grants range from $500 to $10,000, and are open to both home- and center-based providers impacted by COVID-19. 

“We know that child care providers are essential to our communities, economy and the development of our youngest residents,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “This funding will help protect our young people by keeping licensed child care centers operating as safe as possible.”

Grant funding is limited for the purchase of art and developmental supplies, furniture and partitions, cleaning supplies, storage containers, food serving materials and other items specific to the needs of child care and education under COVID-19 guidelines.   

All licensed child care providers operating in Long Beach, who are open or licensed to be open on Dec. 1, are eligible to apply. Grant awards will be based on providers’ licensed capacity of children they are allowed to serve. Applications will be reviewed and awarded weekly until funding is distributed.

Applications are open now. The application is available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog online. The application period will close at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021.
