City of Burbank issued the following announcement on Nov 20.
In response to increased unemployment and the need for remote services, Burbank Public Library has enhanced its offerings to job seekers and entrepreneurs.
Among the services:
- JobNow, funded by the California State Library, offers online assistance for job seekers, from finding employment listings to getting feedback on a resume. Live one-on-one assistance is available 7 days a week for resume review and interview coaching.
- Universal Class makes 500 college-level courses available for free, with subjects including job seeking skills, Microsoft Office and how to start a business.
- The Testing and Education Reference Center provides access to practice tests for education and civil service, along with a resume-building tool.
- In partnership with the City of Burbank Economic Development Department, the Library offers one-on-one small business counseling through SCORE. Appointments are currently held online.
- For those needing to improve their basic computer skills, small in-person group classes in computer basics and job seeking are offered monthly.
Library staff are available by phone or email to provide assistance with using these resources or finding other books or online resources to help in the employment process.
